Conservative Thoughts

Restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions. It is the one un-American act that could most easily defeat us.  --William O. Douglas

So the President wants to close down Gitmo. Great, we bring the prisoners to the mainland. What's the difference between a cell in Cuba and one in South Carolina? And why are we so concerned about the legal rights of non-citizens?

As an veteran of OIFIII and OIFV, this makes me furious. I have a solution though - the US Military no longer takes prisoners. Not that we shoot everyone, not by a long shot. But we detain them for 48hours and then turn them over to another nation (Iraq, Great Britain, Australia, Romania, etc) and they get to send them to trial. My vote is Austrailia or Iraq - they don't seem to ahve to be as PC.

What we must remember is that we are at war. War criminals are not even tried until after the conclusion of the war.

This President, so far tends to make sweeping statements of intent while deferring those pesky details until later. So what if no Countries will accept detainees? So what if no governor of any state appears willing to house these people? And who cares that many who have been released have already, or intend to continue the terrorist agenda. The important thing is that we "close Gitmo". That is what fixes everything.
