Yesterday, the Republicans in the US House of Representatives stood united against the $819 billion dollar pork-bloated "job stimulus" package proposed by President Obama. Their rejection of the program was completely symbolic since Democrats didn't need their votes to pass it. Interestingly the majority party described this rejection as obstructionist partisan nay-saying on the part of the Republicans, while the 11 crossover votes who joined their ranks were characterized simply as "conservative Democrats".

Shout it from the rooftops for God's sake! If you don’t agree with the President’s $825 billion dollar “stimulus” proposal then say so loud and clear. Buy some time on the major networks and plead your case. If you think the 30 seconds of sound bite you’re being granted on the evening news is compelling, forget it.

Congratulations President Obama. I did not vote for you, but enough Americans did to award you the election. Tonight you party, but tomorrow the hard work begins. It would be easy to blame the past administration for all that is wrong with this Country, but that is no longer relevant. All that matters now is the future and how we are going to approach and attempt to resolve our issues.

It’s finally over. The eight year nightmare of George W. Bush’s administration is riding into the sunset. Please don’t be confused by that comment however. I do not, nor have I ever hated President Bush. I know many people who’s irrational hatred of the man, clouded their judgment to the point of insanity. But, I also cannot hold him in the high regard espoused by many conservative pundits in this Country. Now in the waning hours of the Bush administration, it is time to make a carefully considered evaluation of the last eight years.
