Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed HR 2454, the American Clean Energy And Security Act of 2009, also known as the Waxman-Markey Climate Change Bill (Cap and Tax) by a narrow margin of 219 to 212. Forty four Democrats were able to see through the smoke and mirrors to join the 168 Republicans voting against. Most Americans aren't even aware this occurred, since the mainstream media all but ignored it, broadcasting instead decoy pieces on healthcare, unrest in Iran and Kim Jong Il's insane and inane threats. It is truly unfortunate that this bill was rushed through with little public attention because it is certainly the most important legislation this Congress will pass and perhaps the most devastating in 80 years.

Just a group of random thoughts, none of which deserve an entire posting. Headline I haven't seen: "Obama swats fly, apologizes to Hindus". He probably could do it on the Letterman Show. Seems like there's a lot of apologizing going on over there. I can just hear it now: "Letme makethis perfectlyclear. We are not, and never have been ah, at warwithHindus... I had no idea ah, that I might ah, be harming a departedrelative."

In March of 1917 as part of the swirling aftermath of the First World War starving peasants, unpaid factory workers and disillusioned soldiers overthrew the Czar, the absolute autocrat of the Russian Empire. In November of 1917 the Communist Bolsheviks overthrew the proto democrats and in July 1918 they killed the last Czar and his family ending the 300 year Romanov dynasty but that wasn't the end of czars. Given the left's history it is interesting to see the victorious leader of our own November Revolution appointing not one but many Czars to rule over Omerica. This proliferation of Czars wasn't started by the current occupant of the Rainbow Throne. Ill-advised presidents before him started the process but the man from Chicago is taking it to a completely new level.

The latest round of Leftist nastiness has been dished out by none other than late night television host David Letterman. David is a funny guy and I enjoy his show when I see it. He has a stable of experienced writers putting the show together, and enjoys huge popularity, all of which begs the question: Why must he tell tasteless jokes at the expense of Sarah Palin's children? If you care, you can Google for the clips, but I'm not going to dignify his behavior with a link here. I remember President Obama as a candidate declaring his and his opponents children "off limits" to press coverage, and everyone fawning over what a decent and noble statement that was. I guess now for the Liberals among us, decency is only afforded to winners.
