I'm not an obstructionist on the health care issue. I've felt for a long time that something needs to be done to make our current system of care delivery more efficient and less costly. However, I don't understand how anyone could want to do so at the expense of personal freedom, or the risk of breaking the financial backbone of this Country. The Libs once again are exploiting their power in the administration and Congress to bestow on the "receiving class" yet another benefit that will make them just that much more dependent upon Big Government and bigger taxes.

Polite Conversation |

People avoid silence because they’re afraid of what they might hear. Although we value our freedom of speech, polite conversation in America is subject to one crushing rule, “Don’t talk about religion or politics!” Most of us were raised with this stifling warning in our ears. The purpose was to avoid arguments at the dinner table but the result is a population illiterate in the two subjects affecting life the most. I can only talk about the weather for so long which displays the wisdom of memorizing sports stats and watching American Idol. With the two biggest topics off the table we’re faced with either trivial pursuit or silence. Bored with the weather and having neglected my memorization and viewing options I propose a topic to stimulate vigorous conversation without causing any bickering, economics.

Common Sense, Non-Partisan |

Many people in this Country, including the talking heads in the media tend to reduce all politics to partisan issues. The Democrats want to do this, the Republicans want to do that. One party wants to rescue low income Americans or make universal health care affordable, the other party wants to be obstructionist and not agree with any so called "progressive" ideas. However the truth is, there is an undercurrent of common sense that runs deep through the American people. It is rooted in the philosophy and writings of our Founding Fathers, and the polls are daily showing our citizens, regardless of political alignment have an understanding of what is important, prudent and sustainable in this Country.

The multiple poodle-press pronouncements delivered from behind the curtain make it appear the Wizard of O is leading in several directions at once. The media's reporting-by-press-release contradicts itself. I agree with the Omaniacs on the talk show circuit with thrills running down their legs when they say our rock-star president is smart and has an agenda. Therefore, when I look at all the contradictions I cannot attribute any of it to a lack intelligence or direction. When the actions of intelligent, motivated people make no sense perhaps we're looking at them through the wrong lenses. Perhaps instead of using their words to discover their goals we should follow their actions looking to the foundation to judge the house being built.
