Dear Senator, What Have You Done For Us Lately? E-mail

Golden PoopI am sure you are aware that the US Senate voted on 11/21/2009 to move for cloture of H.R. 3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).  In doing so, they cleared the way to bring this bill to the Senate floor for debate.  The motion was passed on a straight party line, all Democrats and two independents for, and all but one Republican against (one not voting).  As if it weren't bad enough that lawmakers are moving this disastrous bill forward, they did so by handing out financial bribes to a fence sitting Senator in order to get the 60 votes required for passage.

No one is Washington seems particularly concerned or alarmed at this news.  In fact many are congratulating the lucky recipient of Senatorial largess for bringing home the bacon to the residents of her state.

ImageOn Saturday, Senator Harry Reid will attempt to bring his multi trillion dollar health care bill to the floor of the Senate.  It is worth noting that he has cleverly assigned it a number (HR 3590) that has already passed both Houses of Congress.  I believe this is calculated to make it difficult for citizens to research, read and analyze the text of the bill.  If you Google H.R. 3590, the odds are you will see something like this:

H.R.3590 - Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009
To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify the first-time homebuyers credit in the case of members of the Armed Forces and certain other Federal employees, and for ther purposes.

Doesn't look much like a health care bill to me.  Move along...Nothing to see here.  Pretty damned crafty huh?

If you care, you need to contact your Senators Saturday and you need to do it early and often.  Reid wouldn't be floating this bill unless he believes he has the votes.  He needs sixty to get the thing rolling and he is buying the votes of "on the fence" and conservative Senators by dumping millions of dollars into their states.  Too bad that Congressmen don't exhibit enough integrity to make such pandering irrelevant.  In Washington DC money talks and unfortunately in this case it is saying "Vote to betray the majority of people in this Country and sell its financial and health care future down the river."  We can't let that happen.

A Good Attorney Should Know Better E-mail

Straight JacketAttorney General Eric Holder and the Obama administration intend to bring Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to trial in New York City for masterminding the 9/11 attacks.  If you don't know, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has openly and proudly admitted his direction and involvement in the terrible attack on the World Trade Center in 2001.

About the time I think this administration can't go further out into la la land, they conjure up another scheme like this.  What they hope to accomplish is murky at best  It is pointless and misguided, and no good can come from it.

It’s Never Too Early to be Too Late E-mail

TypewriterIf no one has told you this yet let me be the first, as you get older time goes faster.  If you’re under thirty you’re thinking, “This old coot has finally gone off his rocker!  Everyone knows an hour is an hour.  So how can time go faster as you get older?”  If you’re between thirty and forty you’re thinking, “Who’s got time to think about time and who cares?   I’ve got to go to work!”  If you’re between forty and sixty you’re thinking “He might have something there” as you day-dream about those endless summers when you were in High School.  If you’re over sixty you’re hoping time doesn’t end before you finish reading this paragraph.

When Does It Begin, Where Does It End? E-mail

ImageWhen does the Obama administration begin?  Twelve months?  Eighteen months?  Two years?  Just tell me so we can stop with the mantra "It was much worse than we thought" and "Bush left us in a mess".  I am far from an apologist for President Bush, but for all his shortcomings, he didn't leave the United States many trillions of dollars in debt, with double digit unemployment and fighting a foreign war with the apparent goal of protracted stalemate.  More troubling still, Islamic extremists have become emboldened enough to strike us on American soil once again.  I just want to know on what date I can lay this train wreck squarely in the lap of this administration and Congress, and start holding them accountable for the consequences of their mis-management and irresponsibility.
