As I write this, I can hardly see the words on the monitor screen. I am listening to the health care summit in the background, and the litany of pitiful stories is causing tears to well up in my eyes. We've got Harry Reid and the cleft palate baby, and Steny Hoyer who's friend couldn't come up with 50% down for a cancer operation. Then there is the sad case of Billy the burlap boy.

The Party of Hell No! |

The Democrats have decided to re-name the Republicans the Party of No. That’s it. That’s their strategy to avoid an electoral debacle shaping up to be as bad for the Party of Hope and Change as 1994 was for the Party of Grope and Sleaze. Many have tried this strategy before. Harry Truman ran against the “Do-Nothing Congress” in 1948. Given their legislative and economic record, it makes sense the Democrats want the American people to spend the election year looking at someone else besides the Denizens of Chicago’s 51st Ward.

Obamacare is about to be re-animated. This coming week, the President will raise it's lifeless corpse to the ceiling of Blair House, in hopes that a lightning strike to the Republican party can jolt life into this stitched together monster of legislation. In attendance to witness this miracle of modern political madness, will be the Democratic leadership and an undetermined number of invited Republican lawmakers. Any minority members who do attend must keep in mind that this President does not intend to lose any ground in this televised "bi-partisan" confrontation. Advice to Repubs: You better send your best and brightest. The stairway can be... treacherous

Money To Be Made On Natural Climate Variation? |

I normally don't blog about the Global Warming, check that, Climate Change controversy because there is plenty mixed information out there that can be cherry picked to support just about any argument, pro or con. Over the past two weeks however, the climate alarmists have ramped up their rhetoric, claiming that recent East coast storms are proof positive of adverse change to the climate of the world. I don't know about climate data models and graphed information, legitimate or not, but I do know one thing for sure: We have verifiable evidence of past storms that suggest they are not new, unusual phenomenon, but common sporadic weather events. It is rather short sighted to pursue a political path harmful to our economy and citizens, under the guise of counteracting a natural atmospheric variation that has been in force for millions of years.

How Dumb Does He Think We Are? |

As the economy constricted from the latest bubble what have we done? On an individual basis unless we have an economic death wish we cut back spending, increase saving and pray we don’t get downsized, rightsized or thrown under the bus to free up capital for someone else’s bonus. As a business owner we follow the same pattern. People wonder why banks aren’t loaning money to small businesses. Don’t mistake a symptom for the disease. Banks aren’t loaning because businesses aren’t borrowing.
