Britain Bans Extremists...Sort Of E-mail
Conservative Compass Blog

News arrived today that Britain’s Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, has banned certain "undesirables" from entry into the country.  Twenty-two people made the unpleasant person list including six Americans.  Apparently the British solution to terrorist threats is to ban high profile, outspoken individuals who speak out regardless of how mindless, incendiary or un-politically correct their rhetoric is.  It seems to me that far more danger lies under the radar from individuals who stay low and don't call attention to themselves...I'm just sayin'...

The list is a veritable who's who of  familiar names like:  Abdullah Qadri Al Ahdal, Yunis Al Astal, Wadgy Abd El Hamied Mohamed Ghoneim and, well... never mind.  I've never heard of these people either.  Over the top American radio host Michael Savage also made the list, to which I am sure he responded:  "I don't care what you say about me.  Just spell my name right, and do it often."  You can see the entire list here , (minus six double secret undisclosed names).

In explaining the rationale for this non-entry status, the Home Secretary stated:

Coming to the UK is a privilege and I refuse to extend that privilege to individuals who abuse our standards and values to undermine our way of life. Therefore, I will not hesitate to name and shame those who foster extremist views as I want them to know that they are not welcome here.

The government opposes extremism in all its forms and I am determined to stop those who want to spread extremism, hatred and violent messages in our communities from coming to our country. This is the driving force behind tighter rules on exclusions for unacceptable behaviour.

So there you have it.  Britain is on record as opposing "extremist views" and messages of hate and violence.  As I read through the names however, I couldn't help but notice some notably absent from Secretary Smith's list.  Hugo Chavez, Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers.  I guess hatred toward the United States and it's allies doesn't concern her so much.
