If you've been reading my posts for any length of time, you are aware that I'm no fan of Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.  To this day, I am convinced that Pelosi was the chief architect of Hillary Clinton's defeat in the Democratic primaries.  There is only room for one queen bee in any hive.  In addition I believe the Speaker thought that Obama would be easier to manage than the tenacious Senator from New York.  But now, the all powerful Speaker of the House is skating on very thin ice indeed and may find herself frozen out by her own party.

The Obama administration has inadvertently set her up for a fall by revisiting the issue of Government sanctioned "torture".  Some of the great minds in the White House and Congress have decided to try to gain political traction by suggesting the prosecution of former White House personnel for "war crimes" because they approved "enhanced interrogation techniques" of suspected terrorist operatives.  This is unprecedented twisted thinking, totally diminishing the fact that good Americans were doing what they thought best to protect the 200 million citizens of this Country.  Dealing with nasty people, is a nasty business.  Besides, what kind of precedent would this set?

Should we have tracked down all the members of the Truman administration and tried them for using nuclear bombs on Japan?  How about the Kennedy and Johnson administrations for taking us in a direction for ultimate stalemate in Viet Nam with the loss of 58,000 American lives?  Or maybe the Clinton administration for its dismal performance in Somalia, or how about in 2013 holding the current administration responsible for the gutting of our economy?  What goes 'round, right?

As dumb as this political sniping is, Pelosi has become ensnared in a game of "what did I know, and when did I know it?" and is scrambling to make America believe she was in no way an accessory to those evil interrogation techniques.  While watching her stutter and stammer through her press conference, I am reminded of the young lady similarly confounded during a legal deposition.  When asked by the judge why she was having such a difficult time conveying the points of the case, she responded, "I'm sorry your honor, but sometimes it is difficult to remember the truth."  Speaker Pelosi seems to be having similar problems which is no great surprise.  The truth to her, is what she wants it to be at any particular time.

This time however, Pelosi is taking on the CIA and its director Leon Panetta, claiming that she was never briefed on the proposed EIT's to be used on terror suspects.  The CIA has responded by releasing documents proving her assertions to be false.  This story is far from over, but it is clear that daily she is becoming more of an embarrassment to the Obama administration.  As a result, her position of power is in peril and she knows it.  Her sad fawning and hollow adulation of the President this past week have been painful to watch even for a Conservative like myself.

This administration is not kind to those who stand in its way.  A rift between the CIA and Speaker Pelosi threatens to expose more than they really want the American people to be thinking about.  Nancy Pelosi is second in succession to the President, was the major author of the "stimulus package" and is the driving force in the House for an ultra liberal agenda that will change our way of life forever.  She's in trouble now, and it is doubtful that her attempts at damage control will be effective in deflecting the criticism.  If she doesn't come clean soon, (exposing herself to the same prosecution as others involved) she may find herself not only thrown under the bus by this administration, but backed over by it as well.
