You people are being so bad! Don't you know that town hall meetings are supposed to be carefully planned, civil affairs. full of prepared, canned statements, interspersed with screened or contrived questions from sympathetic or planted audience members? How dare you attend these Congressional town halls and presume to ask difficult questions or show your displeasure when your concerns are not adequately addressed? You are scaring them, and you need to stop now! Yeah, right...
This administration and its lapdog media seem to have no difficulty maintaining a rather obvious double standard with regard to expressions of citizen displeasure. Busloads of people making a noisy scene at the homes of AIG executives are considered righteous, concerned citizens, while truly upset, impassioned Americans facing unfathomable debt, and asking for accountability or answers are being characterized as an angry mob. Democrats are acting like the school yard bully who just received a black eye from the first kid who ever stood up for himself. They are on the defensive, and they don't like it. These experts at community organizing, are shocked and dismayed that Conservatives can bring a considerable force to the debate and they aren't happy about being held accountable for their thinly veiled agenda. These pompous, disconnected lawmakers are damned mad that you would question their wisdom or motives and they are running for cover like a bunch of little girls. They are doing all they know to do when confronted, taking pot shots, hurling insults and trying to somehow minimize the legitimacy of our concerns just as they did when we questioned the stimulus package and the cap and trade legislation. They are upset that their town hall propaganda gatherings are being "highjacked" by people expecting of all things, honesty and common sense. Some, like Representative Brian Baird of Washington State are canceling future meetings . It seems to me, lawmakers who are proud of their votes, should be more than happy to stand before constituents and explain their decisions. I guess after all, they can't stand the heat, hoping to enact legislation without being held accountable for the ultimate costs or results. As for Representative Baird, he has nothing to worry about since no Congressman has been lynched in years. The Democrats are accusing us of being driven by Limbaugh or Steele, or some evil mastermind but I know better. The good people attending these meetings are just normal Americans like you and me. They're concerned about an unbridled tax and spend government unprecedented in the history of this Country. They are concerned about unnecessary federal control and intrusion into our lives. They are concerned about an unsustainable future being driven through Congress with no meaningful debate and no recognition of dissent. They don't need to be directed to attend these meetings by anyone. They are being drawn by a feeling in their gut that the current direction in Washington DC cannot continue unchecked. Individual thought and action seems to be a concept foreign to Liberals They can't conceive of anyone participating in a political movement without being directed by a central authority. Newsflash to the Left: These are not organized demonstrations. You are witnessing the genuine confluence of American conservative values and common sense. Pay careful attention to these people, they hold your political future in their hands, and if you listen rather than talk, you won't be shouted down.
