In November of 2008, I started this web site with the tag line "Providing direction in an increasingly Liberal America" because I was disillusioned, disenfranchised and disappointed in the political path this Country was following. As a result of President Bush's big spending, big government policies and stalemated conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, many Americans were hungry for a new direction, and rightly so. However, a lot of Conservatives and Libertarians such as myself were becoming increasingly nervous about the crop of Presidential candidates and the future prospects for our Country. Who would have imagined that only 16 months later, I would be changing the tagline to reflect a sweeping shift to the right in America, courtesy of none other than Barack Hussein Obama. Thank you, Mr. President!
I wasn't comfortable with the Republican Presidential candidate in 2008, but with a Democrat controlled Congress, I was certain that electing the Democrat nominee would be disastrous. Clearly my fears were well founded, and now apparently shared by a majority of American citizens. Check any poll you wish, Rasmussen, Gallup, Politico. Americans have an innate sense when something is wrong, and they are expressing that loud and clear. As much as the people of this Country were done with Bush, they never imagined the unsustainable spending we were about to embark upon. Who would have guessed that this new administration according to the Office of Budget Management, would run up as much debt in its first year as Bush did in eight? Obama's budget which was approved by the Democrat Congress will double the national debt in five years and triple it in ten. We've seen the $787 billion stimulus, the $30 billion SCHIP program expansion, $410 billion in federal spending, special interest bailouts and now we are told that adding 30 million uninsured people to federally subsidized Obamacare will actually reduce the deficit. In what alternative universe? Gross Domestic Product (GDP) the market value of all final goods and services made within the borders of our country in a year, currently sits at about $14,461.7 billion. As our federal spending and deficit grow to a larger and larger percentage of GDP, the financial health and security of America becomes more and more tenuous. At a real unemployment rate of 17%, America is out of work period, and GDP will inevitably fall, thereby increasing those percentages even more. Under this scenario, the future looks very bleak. In spite of the east-west coastal Progressives in population centers like San Francisco, Seattle, New York and DC, this Country is largely right-center in its beliefs and values. I trust the people who live in the heartland of America. The people who have faith in family and hard work. The people who understand that most of what you get out of life depends on what you bring to the party. The people who are generous and charitable to a fault, but who won't be taken advantage of. The people who recognize that we made a terrible national mistake, and that it must now be corrected. So today, I am encouraged and energized. It has been a long journey from November of 2008. I have read a lot and written a lot. Hopefully most of what I wrote made sense, and perhaps made a difference. This web site was born of discouragement and despair. Today we are beginning to enjoy the sunlight of renewal and revelation. Today we celebrate a Government that during the next eight months will experience a renaissance of sorts. The Federal Government and those of the states, counties and cities will shift away from a destructive Progressive agenda to leadership that is truly Of, By and For the People. Today our tagline changes to: "Providing direction for a new Conservative America". Thank you Mr. President.
