ImageGive the Democrats in Congress nearly a year and a half, while millions of Americans lost their jobs, and the economy tanked, and what do they come up with?  Obamacare.  I'm not ashamed to say that I didn't vote for many years because I believed that our Government didn't listen to the people.  I refused to participate in a system that, in my mind was corrupt to the core.  In my maturity, I came to believe that, We The People, did indeed have a voice that could shape legislation.  This web site is the product of my changed belief that the will of the people will ultimately be heard.  But tonight we see once again, the type of Government that so disappointed me in my youth, still flourishes in Washington DC.  It is comforting to know that some things never change. At the ending gavel of tonight's House session, when Obamacare became a certainty for all Americans, the United States did not slide into the sea, and fire did not fall from the sky.  As opponents of this health insurance reform, we will be reminded of that fact often.  Since life as we know it hasn't come to a sudden halt, we are supposed to be re-assured.  All will be well.  It will all work out.

Admittedly It is hard to get too excited about bill provisions that won't come into effect until 2014 and beyond, but frankly I can't help but wonder how many people will die for lack of health insurance during the next four years.  The Dems made this sound like a social emergency, so why the wait?  I guess If you have serious health issues right now, the Progressive bastions of compassion in Washington are saying: "Hang in there, help is on the way...in four years".

It may be their way of easing us all into the inevitable rationing and delay of treatment that will result from millions of people seeking government subsidized care forced against the declining number of providers willing to offer that service.  Under such a scenario, the law of supply and demand dictates that the cost of care will increase, but fear not, our Government will pick up the difference (taxpayers get out your wallets).

So now we enter an era where companies won't be able to attract good employees with a good insurance package.  In fact many will drop that benefit altogether in favor of the lower cost Government penalty.  Try explaining that to your kids.  Try explaining to them that now the reward for hard work, perseverance and success, will be the pleasure of paying for the health care of those who don't or won't make the cut.  Explain to them why their taxes will be so high and why they won't be getting anything in return except a warm and fuzzy feeling.

As so often happens, history repeats itself.  We see a Congress that has completely ignored the will of the majority of Americans.  It has carried out a Progressive agenda at it's own peril, regardless of the best interests of this Country.  But there is good news for Conservatives.  There is one more piece of history that we may see again this coming November.  In 1938, after Americans witnessed Progressive leadership under FDR, the Democrats lost 71 House seats and 6 in the Senate.  If something like that occurs again, perhaps  it will be the greatest gift of Obamacare.  Perhaps a return to sanity and fiscal responsibility will be the greatest unintended result of this unwanted legislation.

Great post! Reminder to all that there are better ways to get the point across than the use of hate and violence. The ballot is a powerfull tool when used in the "right" way.
