So now President Obama has installed himself as the real CEO of General Motors. In a somewhat stunning move, the President fired Chairman and Chief Executive Rick Wagoner and mandated that GM partner with Fiat SpA within 60 days or close it’s doors. Swell, we’ve got a huge some would say, vital corporation in its death throes and the guy now in charge has never managed or run a private business in his life.
He did appoint a new puppet “CEO”, but it is doubtful that this poor fellow will have any real power to direct the company. How pitiful it must be to operate in the shadow of this President (no offense Joe). In addition, GM is being forced into a partnership with a European auto manufacturer known for producing small, mechanically troublesome cars. That ought to increase sales... NOT. It has become increasingly clear that the American people will buy just about anything from this administration, so why not Italian deathtraps (SUV-10, Fiat-0)? It is also uncertain if these new smaller vehicles will be made domestically, or overseas. Could it be that our Government is actually encouraging the loss of US jobs? So it is that GM becomes another victim of this administration’s undeclared drive to nationalize industry in this Country. Buy it up and control it. Control its wage and tax structure, control its direction and control who it does business with. They have done it with the major financial institutions and they are working on media and agriculture. GM is just the beginning of this grab for transportation which I believe will eventually include the rail system and airlines. The arrogance of the Obama administration and this Congress is unbelievable. They presume to take over and run US corporations, when it has been proven that this Government can’t even profitably run the Senate cafeteria. And where is President Obama now that he is in charge of GM? Why Europe of course, where he intends to tell everyone at the G-20 conference, how we in America are working toward the world wide socialist economy they so desperately desire. Perhaps he will drop by and tour his new auto factory in Italy.
